Mechanical Design Engineer II

The Mechanical Design Engineer II will contribute to the design of auxiliary subsystems within battery packs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to prototype and validate designs for high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and test battery pack systems to meet critical performance requirements
Work collaboratively with analysts to drive design decisions based on first principles
Participate in component design reviews, fabricating and testing first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices
Conduct critical vendor engagements and collaborate with manufacturing engineers to transition system designs from prototype to high-volume production
Collaborate with the Battery Cell and Systems teams to co-develop auxiliary systems
Work hand-in-hand with senior engineers and learn our product design best practices
Champion safety, especially in the development of new laboratory processes
Qualification
Required
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 2+ years of industry experience
Understanding of first-principles modeling and design and experience optimizing designs for manufacturing and cost-down
Experience working in a manufacturing environment or with contract manufacturing vendors
Demonstrated experience contributing to mechanical design
Direct experience in product development within an early-stage environment
