Process Control Engineer II/Lead

The Process Control Engineer Lead is responsible for managing mid-sized process control teams, designing and implementing software solutions to enhance plant productivity, and leading cross-functional teams to complete projects.

Responsibilities

Lead mid-sized process control teams
Technical and process expert in area of responsibility
Project management responsibilities including writing specifications, supporting contract negotiations, track project progress against milestones, managing purchase orders, manage external vendors and subcontractors
Provide support for multiple areas and backup other areas
Investigate alternate technology and recommend solutions
Architect database and control systems
Interface with area managers, engineers, process improvement to continuously improve the process control systems
Train entry level PCEs, technicians, senior technicians, and electrical maintainers
Understand internal Metallus support systems (i.e. Drawings, Maximo, etc.)
Increase understanding of the overall steelmaking process
Update, maintain, and implement system area documentation including but not limited to Disaster Recovery Plans, complete all assigned training, follow all company audit policies
Update and maintain control system software to allow for 24/7 operations including but not limited to applying current software patches (i.e. Windows Server, SQL Server, etc...), virus protection, and system backups
Analyze and understand assigned process area, debug, and make major software changes to both PLC and higher-level computer control systems
Use technical skills and tools to design, test, and implement major control system upgrades
Provide support to technicians, operations, and maintenance associates to troubleshoot and implement continuous improvement to enhance manufacturing process
Continually learning to maintain an up-to-date knowledge technology and computer systems through self-study, experiments, conferences, and seminars
Effectively communicate technical information with plant management, bargaining unit workforce, and other disciplines at the appropriate technical level of the target audience
Interface with suppliers, vendors, contractors, OEMs and other parties to properly select, maintain equipment, and quickly resolve issues
Effectively perform all assigned work efficiently, on-time, and safely within a fast-paced work environment
Must be willing to provide 24/7 off-hour support

Required

Associates of Electrical or Computer Engineering with 4 year's experience working in manufacturing or manufacturing related environment
Bachelor's of Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2 year's experience working in manufacturing or manufacturing related environment
Project Management - Self Leader and Team Leader
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (servers and workstations)
Working understanding of networks
Working knowledge of reporting services
Strong written and verbal communication
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Development tools (C#, VB, etc.)
Expert knowledge of databases
Working knowledge of PLCs
Expert knowledge of Intel PC-based computer hardware
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Working knowledge of electrical/electronic components and power distribution
Basic knowledge of Electric Arc Furnace Regulation (Software, Electrodes, Hydraulics, Sensors, Controls, PID Loops, User Interfaces)
Must be willing to provide 24/7 off-hour support

Preferred

Associates of Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5 year's experience working in manufacturing or manufacturing related environment
Bachelor's of Electrical or Computer Engineering with 3 year's experience working in manufacturing or manufacturing related environment
