Responsibilities
Assemble mechanical, electrical, and fiber optic components on a manufacturing line, following precise specifications and quality standards
Perform functional testing and inspection of fiber optic assemblies to ensure product performance and reliability
Follow detailed assembly and test procedures, maintaining strict adherence to established guidelines
Assist in identifying and troubleshooting basic manufacturing issues, providing timely resolutions
Support manufacturing and test engineers in conducting experiments and product evaluations
Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment according to established procedures
Accurately document test results and assembly data using digital tools like Word and Excel
Collaborate with engineering teams to suggest and implement improvements in assembly and manufacturing processes
Maintain a safe, organized workspace and follow all safety regulations and company policies
Any other duties as necessary or requested by the supervisor
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
0-3 years of experience in manufacturing of production
Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during manufacturing and assembly tasks
Frequent use of hands and fingers for fine motor tasks such as assembling small components and operating tools
Ability to lift, carry, or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance
Visual acuity for detailed work, including reading schematics, inspecting fiber optics, and identifying defects
Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and gloves, as required
Manual dexterity to handle delicate fiber optic components and perform precision work
Ability to work in a cleanroom or controlled environment, adhering to strict cleanliness and contamination control protocols
May involve occasional bending, stooping, or kneeling to access equipment or workstation setups
Good hand-eye coordination and steady hands for tasks that require precision and accuracy
Indoor laboratory and production environment with controlled temperature and humidity levels
Exposure to bright lighting, cleanroom conditions, and specialized lab equipment
Frequent use of microscopes, precision instruments, and fiber optic tools
May involve occasional exposure to low-level noise from machinery and testing equipment
This position requires English proficiency to perform essential job duties, including reading technical documents, following safety instructions, and communicating with team members
Preferred
Basic circuit knowledge or soldering experience is a plus
SM/PM optical fiber splicing experience is a plus
SM/PM fiber length testing experience is a plus
SM/PM connector and polishing experience is a plus
Experience cleaning and assembling metal components under a microscope is a plus
Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is a plus
Microsoft Suite proficiency is a plus
Candidates that meet and/or exceed the desired experience will be considered for Technician II or Senior Technician roles
