Responsibilities
Supervise and operate activities of an assigned road maintenance crew
Maintain and preserve the Napa County road system to ensure it is safe, reliable, and accessible for all users
Engage in road and traffic maintenance activities including vegetation management, maintenance of structures, drainage facilities, guardrails, traffic signs, signals, and pavement markings
Qualification
Required
Two years of experience as a Road Maintenance Lead worker in Napa County or eight years of experience in road construction or road maintenance work, which includes two years in a lead worker or supervisory capacity
Completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance
Possession of a valid California Class A driver's license with a tanker endorsement and no air brake restriction
Any license, certification, registration, or appointment required for this position shall be maintained (i.e., active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County
The County may conduct a background check and a reference check on candidates prior to appointment to a position within this class
Incumbents are required to travel independently, for example, to perform work at other work sites, to attend meetings with other County employees, to attend meetings with community organizations, etc
Incumbents may be required to work weekends, holidays, irregular hours, on-call, and after normal business hours
Incumbents and candidates applying for positions in this class may be subject to, depending on job assignment, drug and alcohol testing as required under the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991
