Adult Learning Center - Substitute Teacher - GED/HiSET (Evenings)
Holyoke Community College is a vibrant institution serving over 9,000 students annually. They are seeking a Substitute Teacher for the Adult Learning Center to deliver classroom instruction in adult basic education, helping learners develop career goals and readiness skills for employment or further education.

Responsibilities
Creates written lesson plans for relevant subject areas, with assistance from HCC/ALC program coordinator
Creates learner-centered classroom environment
Aligns subject content to curriculum with College and Career Readiness Standards and HiSET/GED curriculum
Delivers differentiated classroom instruction in a variety of formats including large group, small group and/or one-on-one
Incorporates technology and digital literacy into instruction, as appropriate
Integrates and effectively uses volunteer tutors in the classroom
Maintains attendance records
Participates in relevant professional development opportunities as needed; including SABES, ABE & online professional development that align with program goals
Attends weekly HCC/ALC staff meetings and annual retreats, as scheduled
Meets with supervisor as scheduled
Maintains compliance with DESE and ACLS guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Commitment to learner-centered teaching
Ability to work effectively and flexibly with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
Strong written and interpersonal communication and technology skills
Excellent organizational skills; commitment to professional and program development
Bachelor's degree and at least two years' experience in Adult Basic Education or related field
Preferred
Master's degree
Strong knowledge of Adult Basic Education pedagogy and understanding of issues confronted by ABE learners in Holyoke
Flexibility and creativity in curriculum development targeting student needs
