Responsibilities
Contribute across multiple development efforts, including handheld ultrasound systems and novel AI-enabled imaging platforms heading toward commercialization
Design ultrasound probes or NDT phased-array systems, from transducer selection and matching layer design to TX/RX electronics, T/R protection, and downstream signal acquisition
Prototype and debug hardware at the bench, working from schematic to first echo
Support design verification / regulatory test requirements
Qualification
Required
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
6+ years of experience designing ultrasound or phased-array systems — medical imaging or NDT, with commercial deployment
Proven hands-on experience with at least one of the following: Ultrasound transducer design, piezo/CMUT/PMUT integration, or acoustic stack development
TX/RX analog front-end design, including pulsers, T/R switches, LNA/VGA chains, ADC selection, and impedance matching
Beamforming architectures — analog, digital, or hybrid
Ability to prototype and debug hardware at the bench, working from schematic to first echo
Experience with ultrasound measurement techniques — phantom testing, axial/lateral resolution evaluation, acoustic output characterization
Self-starter who can independently define architecture direction while working closely with electrical, mechanical, and software teammates
Strong documentation discipline and ability to support design verification / regulatory test requirements
Preferred
Experience with handheld ultrasound systems and/or POCUS platforms
Familiarity with FDA 510(k) ultrasound regulatory guidance, IEC 60601 acoustic safety, and MI/TI reporting
Experience interfacing with DSP or mobile app developers for beamforming and display pipelines
