Start in 2026 SummerClean Harbors is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Intern to join their El Dorado, AR team for Summer 2026. The intern will gain hands-on experience working alongside Maintenance Repair Technicians performing a variety of maintenance and repairs on equipment throughout the facility.

Responsibilities
Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
Assist in performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and reassembling equipment as necessary
Shadow technicians testing mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
Support work with computer instrumentation to perform diagnostics and execute work orders
Gain exposure to welding and fabrication of necessary parts to maintain equipment in working order
Learn about hydraulics systems and pump maintenance, including centrifugal and diaphragm pumps
Maintain accurate records and logs as required
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a two-year maintenance/industrial technology program or Mechanical Engineering degree program
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both written and verbally
Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, and manipulating and handling of objects
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in various weather conditions
Clean and valid driver's license
Preferred
Plant maintenance experience or coursework in areas such as preventative maintenance, installations, welding, electrical, or pipefitting preferred
Demonstrated education or experience in welding preferred
Knowledge of hydraulics systems and pumps an asset
