Responsibilities
Submit claims timely and accurately to insurance and governmental payers
Monitor their assigned payers and follow up on unpaid claims or claims identified within the at-risk claims work queue
Promptly resolve and resubmit those claims back to their assigned payers
Process and post payments both electronically and manually
Apply appropriate contractual adjustments and work payer denial
Provide customer service by taking patient calls and answers billing questions
Take phone payments and is able to setup payment plans on outstanding patient balances
Work credit balances and process refunds both insurance and patient
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma, GED required
Minimum of one year working experience in professional/hospital insurance billing, collections and payment posting processes
Clear understanding of insurance reimbursement principles
Computer literacy with basic skills in patient account management systems
Basic skills in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and Word
Ability to use various web-based applications
Preferred
Medical billing certification desirable
