GENERAL STUDENT TRAINEE (SECURITY)

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is offering a paid internship for undergraduate and graduate students interested in a career in national security. Responsibilities

Interacts security personnel and other staff regarding issues or other developments in specific cases
Utilizes risk management principles in the analysis, selection and application of effective security countermeasures
Provide investigative support as well as assist in achieving the goals of the assigned program
Based upon provided guidance, determines required resources, length, breadth and scope of assignment as well as ensure work is efficiently accomplished
Collaborate with integrated teams of security and counterintelligence professionals
Assesses a range of security requirements, information reporting, inspections, classified material controls, reproduction and disposition, physical protection measures, investigations, adjudications and administrative security elements
Responsible for identifying and recording instances of noncompliance, provide timely analysis and recommendations regarding countermeasures/corrective actions

PCS (Permanent Change of Station): Not Authorized (Relocation expenses or housing will NOT be provided by the agency)

Telework Eligibility: This position is telework eligible but is not a full-time telework position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a routine basis
If selected, the incumbent must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as indicated in job announcement
Incumbent must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program with a full-time course load at the time of application, for the semester prior to the Summer Cohort, and following participation in the Summer Cohort
Selected students must maintain full-time enrollment through October 2027
Incumbent must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
The DSE Summer '26 Cohort runs from June through August with a start date of 1 or 15 June. The end of cohort is officially 21 August. Students are required to complete a minimum of 10 weeks in the cohort
Students selected for the internship program must send an official transcript with spring 2026 semester/quarter grades and proof of full-time student status to Student Programs prior to their onboarding date
This is not a developmental career ladder opportunity - this position will be filled at the GG-05 or GG-07 depending on applicant qualifications and organizational requirements
Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study by May 2026 (spring quarter/semester) for GG-05 level
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at time of application. A GPA of 3.0 or higher must be maintained throughout the duration of the program for GG-05 level
Maintain a full-time student status (as defined by your university or college) through October 2027 for GG-05 level
Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school education leading to a bachelor's or equivalent degree (expected graduation date of May 2026 or earlier) for GG-07 level
Enrolled as full-time student in a graduate program for Fall 2026 for GG-07 level
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at time of application. A GPA of 3.0 or higher must be maintained throughout the duration of the program for GG-07 level
Maintain a full-time student status (as defined by your university or college) through October 2027 for GG-07 level
All applicants must submit college or university unofficial transcripts as proof of enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, current enrollment in a full-time course load, and to confirm GPA requirements
Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position
