Responsibilities

Conduct clinical assessments and provide treatment for individuals from age 5-21 years old presenting with mental health concerns, including but not limited to, emotional or behavior difficulties
Conduct intake evaluations one to two times a week, including a thorough risk assessment, feedback and disposition for each case
Provide ongoing psychotherapy, group therapy, and parent collaterals, utilizing a variety of treatment modalities, to patients admitted to the clinic for treatment under the supervision of a licensed psychologist/psychiatrist
Develop appropriate treatment plans for patients and maintain timely and suitable records and files or test results
Attend biweekly staff meetings and weekly treatment team meetings and participate as an active member of interdisciplinary treatment teams regarding diagnoses, prognoses, interventions, and recommendations for disposition and treatment
Supervision of psychology interns and externs on intakes and psychotherapy, as assigned
Attend weekly supervision with assigned licensed psychology
Other duties as assigned by the program director or hospital administration
Integral member of multi-disciplinary diagnostic team treating children’s diagnoses based on criteria met by DSM-5
Psychological, psycho-educational, developmental, or neuropsychological evaluation, as appropriate, for children ages 3 to 17 years old
Individual psychotherapy, play therapy, parent counseling, and family therapy with children and adolescents
Contribution as staff psychologist at interdisciplinary team meetings
Attend feedback sessions with families to review the results, including diagnosis and recommendations, of the interdisciplinary comprehensive developmental evaluation
Demonstrations for psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students rotating at the DEC
Supervision of psychology interns on psychological testing at the DEC
Consultation on treatment/evaluation cases at DEC and other BH services, as needed
Attend weekly supervision with assigned licensed psychology
Other duties as assigned by the program director or hospital administration

Required

Valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED
Within six (6) months of appointment to this Level, must obtain valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED and provide proof that all of the following documentation has been submitted to the NYSED
Proof of passing licensing examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP) by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB)
Application for Licensure (Form 1)
Certification of Professional Education (Form 2)
Reports of Professional Experience/Certifications of Supervised Experience (Form 4). Note: Post-doctoral experience in NYS must have been obtained under a NYS Limited Permit
If already licensed in another State, Certification of Out-of-State Licensure and Exam Grades (Form 3) and Certification of Licensed Experience (Form 4F) should be substituted for Form 4 above

Preferred

Current psychological assessment measures, including, but not limited to, CSSRS, KABC-2, WISC-V, WIAT-4, Vineland-3
One (1) year APA accredited internship
At least (1) year postdoctoral supervised assessment and psychotherapy experience
Scoring software for above named assessments, as well as, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Basic psychological theories and principles and specialized methodologies and techniques in a wide variety of settings and circumstances
Evidence-based and time-limited practices (e.g., DBT, CBT, etc.) in diagnosis, treatment planning, and interventions
Crisis Intervention, Individual and Group Psychotherapy and Psychological assessments school psychology, forensic psychology, clinical health psychology or neuropsychology
Child and adolescent development including up to age 21 with integration of family systems and other macrosystems coordination and collaboration (e.g., schools, family court, medical, etc.)
