Sr. Protein Biology Intern

Responsibilities

Follow the policies and procedures defined by the organization
Committed to accomplishing expected program outcomes. Work with mentor to create a high-quality presentation and poster that meets or exceeds standard of Summer Science Program
Independently design experiments and conduct basic troubleshooting
Maintain a clean and safe laboratory
Communicate effectively and work efficiently with team members across R&D to support project requirements
Perform other responsibilities to support the needs of the team, as assigned

Required

Must be a doctoral student in the area of Life Science Research at UW-Madison
Must be able to independently design and execute experiments, and conduct basic troubleshooting
Must have strong time management skills and be highly organized and flexible to meet changing priorities
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and be capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team to support a positive work environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Able to contribute to scientific discussions and provide new ideas
Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner
Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours
Able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
Able to work in non-traditional work environments
Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency
May have exposure to potentially hazardous elements typically found in laboratory environments
Able to perform optimally under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities
To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship (current or future) for employment visa status
