Senior Compliance Specialist

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Senior Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for privacy incident investigations, auditing, and monitoring processes. This role also involves conducting privacy-related training and ensuring compliance with Federal and State privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

Conducts and Manages privacy investigations
Conducts initial screening and timely investigation of privacy matters. This includes data collection, analyses, interviews, and report writing
Conducts privacy related training
Monitors Regulatory Environment; evaluates statutes, regulations, laws to determine applicability to Texas Children’s Privacy Program
Prioritize Daily Tasks and Escalate Concerns When Necessary
Demonstrate excellence in conducting investigations and asking critical questions

Required

High School or GED required
9 years' experience in a regulatory environment including specific experience in project management and audit type work such as planning, supervising, executing and reviewing audits, reviews or investigations
Extensive knowledge of HIPAA/HITECH, and other federal and state privacy regulations
The ability to analyze data, people and situations, determine errors and problems, formulate workable and practical solutions, interact with all levels of Texas Children's employees, and be able to work in a team environment
Ability to prepare and deliver professional presentations to all levels of Texas Children's employees, management and physicians is required
Must have strong written and oral communication skills as well as strong project management skills
Excellent verbal, written, and critical thinking skills
Ability to work with all levels of management across all function areas
Must have strong Microsoft skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree preferred
CPC - Cert-Cert Professional Coder
CCS-P - Cert-CCS-P Physician Based
RHIA - Cert-Reg Health Inform. Admins
CCS - Cert-Cert Coding Specialties
CHC - Certified in Healthcare Compliance
A bachelors degree may substitute for four years of experience
A masters degree may substitute for two years of experience
