Professor, Curriculum Design, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners

Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is an accredited not-for-profit institution of higher education serving thousands of educators from across the country. The Professor, Curriculum Design, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners plays a key role in designing and revising courses while also teaching a subset of students each term, directly impacting student learning across the department’s courses and programs.

Responsibilities

Design engaging, accessible, and polished asynchronous and synchronous learning experiences grounded in adult learning and culturally responsive pedagogy
Revise course content based on student feedback, performance data, and faculty insights
Collaborate with faculty, instructional designers, and the accreditation team to ensure alignment with state standards, certification requirements, and accreditation guidelines
Monitor evolving state and national requirements and update courses to maintain compliance
Gather and incorporate feedback from students, faculty, and staff to continuously improve program quality and effectiveness
Teach 1–4 Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learner courses per term to cohorts of about 50 students, with a flexible schedule including evenings (Tuesdays/Thursdays, 7–9:30 p.m. ET) and occasional Saturday classes
Engage in peer observation cycles and provide/receive constructive feedback to strengthen teaching practices
Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum implementation and share best practices
Support students with timely feedback, academic guidance, and access to relevant learning resources
Develop and implement strategies to create positive and supportive learning environments in all department courses and programs
Ensure all department courses align with organizational mission and vision statements
Design and deliver courses that prioritize student needs, learning preferences, and feedback
Solicit student feedback regularly and adjust course content and delivery accordingly
Implement data-informed improvements to enhance student engagement, learning, and satisfaction
Serve the institution through committee, working group, and/or board membership

Qualification

Required

5 years of classroom teaching experience with culturally and linguistically diverse students, including multilingual learners
Graduate degree (masters or doctorate) in a relevant educational field
Demonstrated experience in curriculum design
Knowledge of current research and best practices in teaching culturally and linguistically diverse students, including multilingual learners and students in bilingual education settings
Ability to design and teach coursework in Spanish
Experience teaching or coaching adult learners through collegiate courses or school-based professional development
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to build collegial relationships with diverse individuals and teams
Proven project management skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to synthesize information from various sources while consistently meeting deadlines
Availability to teach two nights a week and up to two Saturdays per term

Preferred

Experience with online teaching and/or curriculum design
Knowledge of current research focused on Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Understanding of the evolving educator preparation landscape nationwide
Engagement with national education organizations
