Responsibilities
Perform patient assessments and develop individual treatment plans
Liaising with teachers, family members, and other healthcare professionals
Administer therapy and monitor progress
Ensure patients and their families are informed of new treatments and therapy techniques
Assess, diagnose, screen, and prevent language, speech, and swallowing disorders
Communicate with the patient and liaise with their family members, physicians, and teachers to design effective treatment plans
Use tried and tested therapies in combination with new, innovative techniques to provide the best care
Keep up to date with advancements in the field by attending conferences, conducting research, and expanding professional and academic networks
Educate patients and their families on speech disorders and available therapies
Take detailed notes on patient history and progress
Provide mentoring and workshops to speech therapy students
Evaluate patient progress and implement changes to therapy programs as required
Participate in patient care conferences to discuss the need for the involvement of other members of the health team
Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner to assure compliance with agency policy
Demonstrate commitment and professional growth by participating in in-service programs and maintaining/improving competency
Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature
Share information only when the recipient's right to access is clearly established and the sharing of such information is in the best interest of the patient
Maintain your required licenses, certifications, and mandatory skill updates
Comply with all policies, local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Provide other duties of healthcare team members as assigned
Qualification
Required
Currently licensed in the State of Florida
CPR certification
OSHA Certificate
HIV/AIDS Certificate
HIPAA Certificate
Alzheimer's Certificate
Medical Errors Certificate
Domestic Violence Certificate
Minimum 1+ year(s) professional or personal experience supporting individuals with disabilities, mental illnesses, or challenging behaviors
Must have a valid in-state driver's license, provide current registration and insurance, and have a driving record with no more than 2 points within the last 3 years
