Rebar Team Lead

As the Rebar Team Leader, you will direct all activities associated with the steel department to ensure engineered steel designs are fabricated based on drawings to meet production demand.

Responsibilities

Assign work activities amongst department personnel based upon demand
Read drawings and blueprints
Operate rebar bender and shear cutter
Conduct weekly cycle counts
Operate tie gun
Maintain accurate record keeping of inventory
Work with the Production Manager to ensure all steel designs are fabricated in accordance with product drawings at a minimum of one day prior to scheduled production
Examine and inspect work progress and equipment to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met
Deliver completed cage designs with accessories attached to the production floor
Ensure all fabrication equipment is operating as designed including all associated safety features
Train and develop steel shop personnel on all activities & equipment associated with steel fabrication
Work with Engineering to interpret drawing details, resolve any concerns/questions and communicate details to shop personnel
Maintain on high alert for all safety aspects
Continuously look for ways to improve department efficiency, eliminate waste and reduce costs
All other duties as may be required on an as needed basis

Required

High school diploma / equivalent
Must have at least 2 years of related work experience in steel reinforcement activities
Experience with operation of a crane
Experience with operating a rebar shear/cutter
Experience with operating a rebar bender
Ability to read/write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, fractions)
Ability to read and interpret steel design drawings
Working knowledge of a tape measure/hand ruler
Leadership skills in terms of prioritizing tasks, training/developing personnel and scheduling/assigning activities
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizations skills
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Preferred

Previous steel fabrication experience regarding cutting, bending and tying rebar preferred
