Responsibilities
Develops and manages GIS databases and workflows with specific attention public utilities
Develops new GIS solutions and provides support after the product is delivered
Develops and implements complex queries to filter data and simple scripts to automate standard tasks that may be used by others
Uses software and tools to integrate multiple specialized databases and layers from a variety of sources, including aerial photographs, for analytical purposes
Converts non-GIS formats into usable GIS data to support infrastructure design and terrain, topographic, hydraulic, hydrologic, or time-sequenced event analyses
Researches, analyzes, and evaluates hardware and software products for use in GIS
Assists in coordination and implementation of spatial systems with users and operations personnel
Assists in development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS databases, GIS web services, and automated office systems
Manages project timelines and reports status of tasks to supervisors to ensure task completion within established timeframes
May serve as the departmental project leader for application development projects
May independently maintain and/or develop GIS applications of moderate size and complexity
Performs related tasks as required
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, GIS technology, GIS sciences, or related field
Five years of experience in analysis, design and implementation of enterprise geodatabases
A driver's license valid in the State of Florida
Extensive knowledge of Geographic Information Systems
Working knowledge of engineering, geography, planning, computer drafting, mapping, and the automation and maintenance of a GIS database in an enterprise environment
General knowledge of the operation, uses and capabilities of data processing equipment, database management, and Microsoft SQL Server
General knowledge of systems analysis, programming and networking
General knowledge of office procedures, practices, and equipment
Considerable knowledge of ESRI Desktop, Mobile, Web, and Server suites; ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Server
Ability to determine contour interval, trace contours, planimetric features, and topographical details for transfer to computer files
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings conveying utility infrastructure; ability to read and understand documents conveying land ownership
Ability to use cartographic techniques in production of printed and on-line maps
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City administration, management, associates, and vendors
Preferred
Experience with automated geographic information systems, asset management, and ArcFM
FAA Part 107 Certification
