Senior/ Executive Director, Business & Corporate Development
Eyconis, Inc. is a privately held, pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on transforming the ophthalmology treatment paradigm. The Senior / Executive Director, Business & Corporate Development will shape growth strategy, identify and secure strategic partnerships, and advance the company's mission to deliver transformative therapies to patients with eye disease.

Responsibilities
Develop and Execute Business Development Strategy: Lead and execute all aspects of business development initiatives including partnering strategy and execution of collaboration, in-licensing and out-licensing agreements that fit with corporate strategy. Activities will include assessing the competitive landscape, business case development, conducting due diligence, lead generation and sourcing, financial analysis, identifying and engaging with key decision makers, and successfully closing transactions
Work closely with the CEO and other cross functional members of the senior management team to establish, drive, and implement overall corporate growth strategy and long-range planning based on current portfolio opportunities and risks, financing needs, and organizational capabilities. Assist in identifying portfolio, financing and/or organizational gaps and plans for how to best address them. Create alignment on the strategy across the Company and with the Board
Partnership Development: Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborations with external stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and healthcare organizations. Search and identify potential partners in accordance with business development strategy, establish and maintain a broad network of pharmaceutical and biotechnology relationships
Co-development and Licensing: Identify and evaluate strategic business opportunities including out-licensing and in-licensing, academic and industry partnerships, M&As, alliances, and joint ventures. Work closely with the Board and senior management team to evaluate current and future business development and market opportunities. Drive the negotiation and execution of co-development agreements and licensing deals that advance Eyconis' pipeline and strategic goals
Corporate Development: Support corporate development strategy and long-term planning & financing efforts
Alliance Management: Oversee the management of established and future partnerships and alliances, ensuring alignment of goals, clear communication, and mutual success
Market and Commercial Analytics & Intelligence: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and market opportunities, providing strategic insights that guide partnership decisions. Perform market research, competitive analysis, participate in relevant industry presentations, and summarize key findings, as needed. Monitor and analyze competitive data and information, to promote a robust understanding of Eyconis' position and path forward in the broader market
Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans related to business development activities, ensuring sound financial decisions that align with corporate goals. Participate in strategic financing including fundraising
Executive Communication: Present partnership and alliance strategies, progress updates, and outcomes to the executive team and board of directors. Lead discussions with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other organizations to communicate the potential benefits of partnering with or licensing with Eyconis
Prepare business development documents, presentations, and briefing books. Prepare, evaluate, and present robust financial modeling and analyses to value projects and terms; develop, participate, and deliver high level impactful presentations and conclusions to senior management, Board of Directors, key prospects, and stakeholders. Participate in deal construction and negotiations
Manage in-bound and out-bound due diligence processes (e.g., inquiries, presentations, data room, Q&A response)
Corporate Communications: messaging, corporate presentations, and website; manage investor congress meeting process (JP Morgan, etc.); external meeting presentation cadence/rhythm; manage agency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field
Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MBA) strongly preferred
For Senior Director: 12+ years biotech business development and corporate development experience preferred
For Executive Director: 15+ years biotech business development and corporate development experience in a complex business environment
Proven track record of securing strategic partnerships, co-development agreements, and licensing deals that drive company growth
Demonstrated record of successfully identifying, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and closing a variety of large and complex licensing and/or partnership transactions
Passionate and self-motivated to drive deals to a successful conclusion and to deliver quality results
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical product lifecycle management including drug development and delivery process, regulatory paths, product launch, and commercialization over the life cycle
Excellent presentation and communications skills—the ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences (colleagues, biotechnology and pharmaceutical partners, financial institutions, customers, and the Board of Directors)
Expertise in creating and managing partnership materials, such as pitch decks, term sheets, and collaboration agreements
Energetic self-starter with strong executive presence, results orientation, and the ability to work effectively & independently in an entrepreneurial and cross-functional environment
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and emotional intelligence to navigate complex partnership dynamics
Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making and problem-solving
Travel may be required up to 25% of the time
