Start in 2026 SpringYES Prep Public Schools is committed to creating life-changing opportunities for students. The Alumni Transition Intern will support recent graduates in their transition to college, providing academic advising and assistance with financial aid processes.
Education
Responsibilities
Serving as a continuing college counselor or advisor for Class of 2025 recent graduates as they enter their summer transition
Providing academic advising to students and supporting college/university enrollment
Assisting students with completing university housing and meal plan forms
Supporting students with the financial aid process including completing financial aid forms (FAFSA, TASFA, and CSS Profile), interpreting financial aid packages, and navigating student payments
Reviewing student survey responses and categorizing transition priorities
Scheduling advising appointments with recent graduates
Communicating with alumni via text, social media, phone calls, and email
Documenting student advising conversations in online alumni database
Additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma
YES Prep alumni who are rising college juniors, seniors, or recent May 2026 college graduates
Strong recommendation from YES Prep staff & current teacher, mentor, or supervisor
Related experience with the college transition and admission process, peer mentoring and/or student leadership experience
Cumulative satisfactory academic performance in college courses
Ability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends
Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
Creates and maintains positive working relationships on a team and/or in a highly collaborative environment
A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional
Belief in and commitment to the mission and core values of YES Prep Public Schools
