Hardware Test Engineer

Responsibilities

Design and develop digital hardware with a focus on microprocessor and FPGA platforms
Implementing digital designs using schematic capture software tools which include generating net lists, parts lists and preparation for printed circuit board layout
Design and implementation of FPGA and/or CPLD applications using HDL (Verilog or VHDL)
Evaluating architectural trade-offs to meet design requirements
Active participant in the design layout phase including component placement and trace routing
Extensive hands on experience in the lab for debugging and testing all parts of the digital design
Supporting designs that are currently in manufacturing
Working closely with engineering services (CAD, Mechanical design, Component Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test)
Clear and concise documentation to support all facets of the design

Required

Experience in digital design (embedded processor, PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet, USB, FPGA, clocks)
Experience with memory device implementation (DDR family of devices and NOR, NAND and SPI flash)
Experience with FPGA timing and synthesis tools and processes (Altera Quartus II experience preferred)
Experience in switching power supply design (DC/DC converters)
Experience with schematic capture software (ORCAD/DXDesigner)
Awareness of signal integrity and EMI/EMC issues
Awareness of DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing)
Practical experience in the use of test equipment (DSO, Logic Analyzer, etc.)
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering or closely related field from an accredited University/College
At least 7 years of related work experience
Clearance: Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain a secret level DoD clearance

Preferred

Experience in CPLD design and the associated tools is a plus
Experience in hybrid RF/Digital PCB board layout is a plus
Scripting (VB, C#, Perl, Tcl/Tk, Python, Ruby) for the purpose of test automation would be an asset
