The Mechanical Design Intern will be responsible for completing mechanical drawings, calculating dimensions, and providing technical support, while assisting in planning and scheduling design processes.

Responsibilities

Completing transformer mechanical drawings based on the internal and external layout, standard practices, and/or from technical advisories

Calculating dimensions, allowances, and specifications per standard procedures or general design knowledge of shop capabilities when standard procedures do not exist

Verifying and updating drawings

Providing technical support and training of others

Assisting the supervisor in the planning and scheduling of the design and detailing processes

Assisting on development projects as requested by supervisor

Recommending and developing new procedures to improve the efficiency of the detailing process

Required

Currently pursuing Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Drafting and Design or related field

Knowledge of 3D software

Excellent process and problem solving skills

An understanding of drafting procedures

An excellent team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization

Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation

Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ProE

Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, with assistance as required for design questions or technical problem
