Automotive Industrial Engineer (New Products Launch)

They are seeking an Automotive Industrial Engineer to lead a team in supporting new product introductions at a major OEM manufacturing facility, focusing on methods development, line balancing, and continuous improvement during the launch and ramp-up phases.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team conducting time and motion studies, developing standardized work, and balancing operator workloads to align with takt time using predetermined time standards such as MTM, MOST, or MODAPTS
Train the team on the customer’s new product introduction process
Present station readiness plans to the steering committee and customer
Present line balance strategies to the core launch team, including product, engineering, and operations stakeholders
Lead throughput and bottleneck analyses to identify improvement opportunities and eliminate constraints
Provide direction to Station Design, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality teams to implement design and process improvements
Ensure ergonomic evaluation data using digital tools such as Process Simulate Human or ErgoMan is provided to the responsible team
Validate PFMEA and process documentation for compliance and launch approval
Lead or participate in continuous improvement (Kaizen) workshops and lean manufacturing initiatives
Track and report launch metrics including cycle time adherence, first-time quality, downtime, and throughput performance
Support pilot builds, tool tryouts, and process validation during pre-production phases

Required

Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field), or equivalent work experience
7 to 10 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing or assembly environment
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel for line layouts and analysis
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, line balancing, and standardized work principles
Solid understanding of PFMEA, lean methodologies, and ergonomic design
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Valid US visa or work permit

Preferred

Experience supporting vehicle launches, retooling, or model change programs
Familiarity with Teamcenter, Tecnomatix Process Simulate, Power BI, or other digital manufacturing tools
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification (Green Belt or higher)
Experience with SAP, MES, or similar production tracking systems
Working knowledge of throughput simulation and material flow optimization
