Protection & Automation Technician Development Program

Responsibilities
Identify and assemble mechanical and electrical components of Industrial Control Panels
Learn wire cutting and crimping techniques for high-quality electrical connections
Interpret 3D models and schematic diagrams to route wiring efficiently
Learn Siemens safety standards, quality processes, and product fundamentals
Inspect and test completed panels prior to shipment
Gain hands-on experience with electrical safety, wire routing and dressing best practices, fiber optic termination and testing, and Ethernet communication testing
Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) with customers, ensuring panels meet design and operational standards
Receive and inspect protective relays arriving from Siemens Germany
Load firmware and customer-specific software configurations
Perform bench testing and final verification before delivery
Work side-by-side with Siemens lead engineers at real electrical substations across the U.S
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for live customer projects
Gain invaluable real-world experience supporting Siemens Protection & Automation solutions in the field
Qualification
Required
Completed Associates Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Utility and Substation Relay Tech, or related field, from an accredited institution between Spring 2024 and Fall 2025
Full-time availability begins January 26th, 2026
Interested in learning how power systems, protection relays, and automation panels work together
Demonstrated attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety
Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking
Must be able to lift parts or sub-assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs occasionally
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment within the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
