Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day operations for assigned laboratory sites, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance
Oversee staffing, training, and performance management to support a culture of excellence
Develop and implement policies, standard work, and performance metrics aligned with the Stanford Operating System
Ensure compliance with CAP, AABB, Joint Commission, and state/federal regulations
Drive continuous improvement, Lean initiatives, and operational innovation
Manage budgets, productivity, and financial performance for assigned areas
Lead strategic planning and space/lab design initiatives
Partner with Finance and Business Operations on growth and business development opportunities
Serve as a key liaison with medical staff, nursing, and other departments to optimize patient care and service delivery
Represent the department in leadership meetings, committees, and enterprise initiatives

Required

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in clinical laboratory operations or healthcare management within a large medical center
Proven experience leading multi-site laboratory teams and implementing operational improvements
Deep understanding of clinical laboratory workflows and healthcare operations
Strong financial acumen and business planning skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and change-management abilities
Ability to drive innovation and foster collaboration across diverse teams
Commitment to patient safety, service excellence, and regulatory compliance

Preferred

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Knowledge of LIS systems, billing, and reimbursement processes preferred
Familiarity with Lean and continuous improvement principles
