The University of Arizona is seeking a Senior Academic Advising Training & Development Specialist responsible for designing and implementing professional development programming for academic advisors. This role focuses on equipping the advising community with essential knowledge and tools to enhance undergraduate student success through various training initiatives and collaboration with institutional partners.

Responsibilities

Develop and facilitate synchronous and asynchronous training activities for academic advisors that explain policies, processes, curriculum, and student resources necessary for promoting undergraduate student success and incorporating student development theory into training content to help advisors address various student populations
Develop and facilitate synchronous and asynchronous training activities for academic advisors on Trellis, UAccess, Advising Central Dashboard (applying assessment principles to ensure effective outcome for advisors)
Write and refresh business process guides for technology tools such as Trellis (e.g. appointment scheduling, appointment check-in, case notes, and service cases, UAccess (e.g. The Advisement Report, transfer credit report, course exceptions, and advisor assignments), and Advising Central Dashboard (e.g. student data on factors that are impacting student success) that are used by advising community while utilizing knowledge of effective teaching theories to ensure a comprehensive training program
Have the knowledge and expertise to teach/train complex principles, theories and concepts to advising peers (student development theory, program development, addressing competencies of relational, conceptual and informational components of academic advising)
Collaborate with campus partners at all levels of the institution to understand new or amended campus policies, processes, curriculum, and/or resources that need to be addressed in academic advising training and development
Collect and analyze data on student success to identify needed training for academic advisors and share with Academic Advising leadership
Resolve complex problems and questions from the advising community regarding academic policy, process, curriculum and/or services for students
Curate the monthly advisor newsletter by securing content, organizing content, proofreading content before mailing to academic advising community through Mailchimp
Participate as part of the ARC team in developing and delivering new programs such as an annual academic advising conference or summit for the University of Arizona

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Academic advising addressing competencies of relational, conceptual, and informational components of academic advising knowledge
Effective teaching to produce & deliver training materials for the advising community knowledge
Student development theory to promote advising approaches that address student retention and completion knowledge
Program development skills to support the development of a comprehensive advisor training program
Effective verbal and written communications skills

Preferred

Master's Degree preferred
Experience with MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, UAccess, Trellis, Advising Central (a UAIR Dashboard); and Brightspace/D2L. (Needs to be provisioned for UAccess, Trellis, UAIR Student Medium Access)
Experience with CRM such as SalesForce and SIS such as Peoplesoft or Banner
3-5 years of academic advising experience
3-5 years teaching experience
