Pep Boys is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their Finance team. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance while supervising the accounting team.

Responsibilities

Manage the monthly close process to ensure adherence to reporting deadlines

Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture

Ensure account reconciliations and journal entries are prepared and reviewed in a timely manner

Oversee maintenance of general ledger and integrity of accounting transactions

Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls/policies

Assist with variance analysis and reporting on key retail metrics (sales, margins, labor, and operating expenses)

Lead efforts to automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual requirements

Support year-end audit processes and prepare required documentation for external auditors
