Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
Bureau Veritas Group is seeking experienced Reinforced Concrete Special Inspectors for immediate openings on various Building, Transportation, and Infrastructure projects in New York City. The role involves performing field inspections and testing to ensure compliance with structural drawings, specifications, and building codes, focusing on reinforcing steel and concrete placement.

Responsibilities
Performing field inspections and testing to verify compliance with approved structural drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes
Ensures that reinforcing steel, concrete placement, and related structural components meet the standards established by ACI, IBC, and project requirements
Documenting inspections, preparing daily field reports, and communicating non-conformances
Reading and interpreting structural drawings, rebar schedules, and project specifications
Verifying rebar size, spacing, placement, and lap splices prior to concrete placement
Traveling to multiple project sites as needed
Completing and submitting inspection reports accurately and on time
Interacting effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 2 years of construction inspection experience in NYC, covering projects of varying size and complexity
Working familiarity with Chapter 17 of the NYC Building Code
Candidates must hold one or more of the following: ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector certification OR ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector – Level II certification (required)
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (required)
ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector (required)
Minimum 2 years of experience performing reinforced concrete and rebar inspections on structural projects
Thorough knowledge of ACI 318, ACI 301, ACI 117, CRSI Manual of Standard Practice, and IBC Chapter 17 special inspection requirements
Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, rebar schedules, and project specifications
Proficiency in verifying rebar size, spacing, placement, and lap splices prior to concrete placement
Experience documenting inspections, preparing daily field reports, and communicating non-conformances
Strong understanding of concrete mix design, placement, curing, and testing procedures
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple project sites as needed
Current training in fall protection, scaffolding and ladders, and work-zone safety, with a minimum of OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification
Preferred
Familiarity with AWS D1.4 welding requirements for reinforcing steel
OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to complete and submit inspection reports accurately and on time
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Willingness to obtain additional certifications as needed
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team
Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and QA/QC procedures
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
