Responsibilities

Manages, defines, designs, and develops system requirements

Performs trade-off analyses of performance, life-cycle cost, risk, producibility, and other system or program requirements

Assesses architecture and current hardware limitations, defines and designs system specifications, and evaluates input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility

Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system

Defines system support requirements

Analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies

Conducts independent technical investigations in systems design

Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services

Performs engineering studies and analyzes system problems in support of development, develop system implementation solutions

Develops concepts, provides requirements analyses, performs modeling and simulations, cost estimations, cost benefit analysis, familiar with engineering standards and industry best practices

Conducts COTS hardware and software interoperability, new technologies assessments, statistical studies, predictive analysis, project planning, script development, etc

Required

Advanced knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and MPLS

Expertise in network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and proxy servers

Experience in designing and implementing complex network architectures that align with business needs

Strong understanding of scalable Data Center network design principles for high availability and performance

Proficiency in implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control policies

Proficient with network design architectures including Cisco DNA and Cisco Identity Services

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and their core services (compute, storage, networking, databases)

Advanced understanding of cloud architecture concepts, including virtualization, containers, and hybrid/multi-cloud environments

Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM)

Knowledge of security measures for data center and cloud environments

Experience with monitoring tools and methodologies for data center and cloud environments

Advanced skills in analyzing performance metrics and optimizing infrastructure for efficiency

Strong understanding of data backup strategies and experience with disaster recovery planning

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions

Hands-on experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds)

Solid expertise in network operating systems (e.g., Cisco IOS)

Proficiency in creating and maintaining detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures

Ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations for management on network performance, project status, and improvement recommendations

Participate in on-call rotation and promptly respond to critical incidents during non-business hours including nights and during weekends

Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging network technologies and industry trends

Bachelor's Degree or 10 years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree

7 to 10 years of experience as a Network Engineer or Systems Engineer

Masters degree and 4 years' experience in lieu of 7-10 of experience

Preferred

Certifications preferred (Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, Linux, IBM)
