They are seeking a Design Physicist to perform simulations to optimize laser-target coupling schemes and collaborate with various teams to develop integrated designs for fusion power plants.

Responsibilities
Using VISRAD for low-mode symmetry and view-factor modeling to optimize laser beam configurations and hohlraum geometry
Running integrated radiation–hydrodynamics simulations to model the radiation drive symmetry and impact on implosion physics
Collaborating with expert teams at Inertia and on an Inertia-LLNL contract to model LPI and drive uniformity using LLNL simulation capabilities
Design and analyze experiments to benchmark the beam-target geometry and radiation drive uniformity
Qualification
Required
PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or related field
Experience with radiation–hydrodynamics codes or computational modeling of plasmas
Strong foundation in radiation transport, fluid dynamics, or plasma physics
Programming or scripting experience (Python, C++, or equivalent)
Preferred
Experience modeling low-mode asymmetries and drive uniformity using VISRAD or view-factor-based tools
Background in inertial confinement fusion or high-energy-density related physics
Strong teamwork and communication skills
