Responsibilities

Draft, review and negotiate agreements for environmental commodities and clean-fuel instruments, including emissions allowance trading contracts (e.g., RINs, LCFS, CFR, EU ETS, Fuel EU Maritime) and related confirmations
Draft, review and negotiate physical commodity sale and purchase agreements (biofuels, feedstocks and gas) and ancillary logistics or handling services supporting the supply chain
Monitor evolving regulatory developments affecting carbon, clean fuels and commodity markets and support their implementation within documentation and processes
Support the preparation, handling and management of pre-litigation matters, including claims, notices, early dispute correspondence and coordination with external counsel
Collaborate with Trading, Operations, Risk, Treasury, and Tax to ensure contractual terms support commercial objectives and can be operationalized effectively
Contribute to ongoing enhancement of legal templates and contract-management processes and internal policies

Required

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B., J.D. or equivalent) from a recognized university; bar admission is an asset
3–5 years' experience in the energy and physical commodities industry
Experience negotiating NAESB and EFET documentation and biofuel/feedstock purchase and sale agreements, storage and logistics agreements
Experience negotiating emissions allowance trading contracts (e.g. RINs, LCFS, CFR, EU ETS)
Excellent command of English (oral and written) is required and any additional language is considered an asset (French preferred)
Strong drafting, communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail and commercial awareness
Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced trading environment with multiple stakeholders

Preferred

Experience with ISDA and CSA documentation is a plus but not a core requirement
