Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

Assists in the planning and implementation of company environmental, health and safety programs
Assists in periodic on-site facility audits to check for compliance with CAL-OSHA guidelines
Participates in the company Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Safety Committee
Familiar with CAL-OSHA General Industry safety programs. Including but not limited to Injury and Illness Recordkeeping, Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Lockout Tagout, Hazard Communication and Respiratory Protection
Familiar with South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) rules and permitting
Coordinates the purchase and inventory of personal protective equipment
Coordinates the purchase of chemicals and distributes chemicals to the production and manufacturing areas
Ensures hazardous waste is managed in accordance with Federal, California hazardous waste regulations and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
Interfaces with public regulatory agency representatives and serves as the liaison for Teledyne during compliance audits in a cordial and professional manner
Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines

Required

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 5-10 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Process driven with excellent interpersonal communication skills required
Ability to partner with and effectively communicates to management and supervisory staff in both oral and written
Skilled in mathematics and chemistry, with computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
Basic Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Management systems
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
Knowledge of specific software (HRIS)
Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required
This position requires traveling. Ability to travel (domestically/internationally)
