ATG SPS CFD Simulation Intern (Summer 2026)
Tokyo Electron America, Inc. is a global leader in the semiconductor equipment industry, seeking research scientist interns for the summer. The intern will support multiphysics simulations for wet etching and wet cleaning processes in semiconductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities
Build models to better understand and optimize wet chemical processes
Build predictive models anchored to experimental data
Build simulation models with a goal to optimize process and tool design
Develop new chemical treatment equipment, process and software technologies in collaboration with our Surface Preparation Systems factory and marketing teams in Japan
Collaborate global projects with TEL US R&D sites, consortia (IMEC), semiconductor customers, vendors and/or universities using strong communication skills
Strong emphasis is placed on candidates that can find solutions to difficult problems through structured project management while working in a team environment
Qualification
Required
B.S. degree or higher in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Mechanics or equivalent fields specializing in the area of Computational Engineering
Preferred
pursuing M.S. or PhD
Knowledge of reduced-order modeling or machine learning-based surrogate modeling
Experience in reproducing spatial data distributions from high-fidelity CFD models using reduced-order or data-driven models
Knowledge of transport phenomena: fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer and chemical reactions
Knowledge of numerical methods: finite element method (FEM), finite volume method (FVM), thin film/integral boundary layer (IBL) method, and smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method
Experience with modeling fluid dynamics, fluid-solid interaction and mesoscale simulations
Experience with simulation software such as COMSOL, Star-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, etc
Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, etc
Relevant semiconductor manufacturing experience and/or equipment experience with advanced knowledge of wet etching and wet cleaning technologies
Experience working in a global and multi-cultural environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to explain complex technical topics
