They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design and sustain electromechanical product lines across various industries, utilizing tools like SolidWorks and collaborating with a skilled engineering team.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively within an engineering team of mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to design new products and upkeep existing product lines

Work with the Director of Engineering and representatives from Sales & Marketing to accurately capture product requirements and translate those requirements into a marketable design concept

Research and understand applicable design and agency standards as required

Engineer and support new product designs from initial concept to manufacturing implementation

Utilize SolidWorks daily for all engineering efforts

Oversee and upkeep product BOM’s and item master’s within the ERP system

Implement knowledge of various manufacturing processes including CNC machining, stamping, injection molding, die casting, and more to create products that are designed for manufacturability

Clearly communicate and collaborate with various members of the purchasing team to assist in sourcing manufacturing components

Provide detailed design presentations

Build functional prototypes of new or improved designs as proof of concept before implementation. Prototypes are most commonly made from 3D printed and CNC machined components

Test prototypes and production representative designs to ensure viability before releasing for production

Analyze test results and ensure compliance with all deliverables and standards

Oversee the production ramp-up and ensure design manufacturability

Participate in the New Product Development Phase Gate process as well as the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process
