They are seeking a Senior Urban Design and Planning Consultant to lead transformative urban initiatives, focusing on community-centered development and sustainable urban regeneration. The role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, conducting urban design studies, and engaging with stakeholders to implement long-term strategies for neighborhood revitalization.

Responsibilities

Lead Neighborhood Visioning Projects: Develop and implement long-term strategies for neighborhood revitalization, integrating community aspirations, policy frameworks, and design excellence

Urban Design & Land Use Studies: Conduct site analysis, spatial planning, and design studies that inform zoning, land use policy, and development scenarios

Project Management: Oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure high-quality deliverables across multiple concurrent projects

Community Engagement & Co-Creation: Design and facilitate inclusive engagement processes, workshops, and charrettes that empower residents and stakeholders to shape their environments

Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with public agencies, private developers, non-profits, and community groups to align project goals and foster partnerships

Policy & Regulatory Analysis: Interpret and apply zoning codes, land use regulations, and urban policy to guide planning and design recommendations

Required

8+ years of experience in urban design, urban planning, or related fields

Degree in architecture, urban design, urban planning, or related discipline

Project execution experience: experience supporting the delivery of client work and internal reporting/tracking project progress, ideally in consulting

Proven track record in community engagement, visioning, and co-creation processes

Strong proficiency in design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp). Basic hand sketching familiarity a plus

Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills

Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead interdisciplinary teams

Deep understanding of urban systems, equity-driven planning, and sustainable development

Detail oriented and outcome focused with a willingness to collaborate within and beyond the internal team and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. An entrepreneurial and 'can do' attitude, with an ability to work toward solutions despite real world constraints of limited data

Mentorship of junior staff and contributing to a culture of excellence and innovation

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
