CalPortland is seeking a Cement Lab Intern to gain hands-on experience in the preparation and analysis of materials to meet industry specifications. The role involves learning about cement testing procedures and contributing to quality control and assurance efforts under the guidance of experienced laboratory professionals.

Responsibilities

Prioritize laboratory safety, following company guidelines and policies
Assist in sampling, preparing, and collecting materials for testing
Support concrete trial batches, including material preparation and weighing
Collect and perform analysis on aggregate samples
Maintain a clean and organized laboratory space and assist with inventory management
Provide support to laboratory staff in other tasks as needed

Required

Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Material Science
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Good attendance and punctual
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform physical labor in inclement weather
Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles

Preferred

Prior experience or internship in the construction or building materials industry
