Equipment and Systems Design Engineer
Rea Magnet Wire is focused on technical design and development for magnet wire equipment and manufacturing systems. The Equipment and Systems Design Engineer leads projects to enhance product development and continuous improvement efforts, collaborating with various teams to align with corporate initiatives in the automotive sector.

Responsibilities
Leads technical activities on assigned equipment and manufacturing systems development and improvement projects
Design models and prototypes for core and EV program requirements with a focus on stability, repeatability, quality, reliability, and sustainability
Conduct research on new and initiative equipment and manufacturing systems to aid product and program development initiatives
Create design briefs, specifications, and design requirements for prototype and scale up equipment production
Produce 2D and 3D drawings, parts lists, performance calculations, procedures, and other supporting documentation for prototype and production ready equipment and manufacturing systems
Manage cost estimations and budget requirements for all phases of the design, prototype, and scale up manufacturing of equipment
Produce presentations and model demonstrations to communicate functionality and improvements of designs
Ensures alignment with equipment designs and product manufacturing needs to achieve desired productivity and capability metrics in the project charter
Works and collaborates with plant’s members of APQP team to ensure successful completion of Rea’s product development process through “Production Support” – Phase 5
Supports and implement various tasks, projects, and actions in support of the Automotive Strategic Plan and core product equipment needs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering
Five to eight years of machine and component design and development
Knowledge of machine design and building techniques with a strong emphasis on modern state-of-the-art equipment
Knowledge of maintenance and engineering needs in a manufacturing environment including predictive and preventative maintenance as it is applied to machine design and development
Appreciation for continuous improvement in design practices, testing practices and overall improvements for the manufacturing of equipment and processes
Knowledge of project planning and management in support of automotive product development practices (APQP)
Ability to solve problems and correct situations using engineering first principles
Ability to listen, lead and contribute depending on situation, and work well within team environment
Effective supplier and contractor communication and management
Travel 20-30% domestically; 10% internationally
