Nutritionist II Registered Dietitian
La Clínica de La Raza is a community-based health center dedicated to providing accessible healthcare to diverse communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Nutritionist II Registered Dietitian will conduct nutrition screenings and assessments, implement care plans for patients with various health conditions, and assist in developing educational materials and programs.

Responsibilities
Conducts nutrition screening, assessment and counseling, and implements nutrition care plans for low and high risk patients with diabetes, pre-diabetes, gestational diabetes, and other high risk pregnancies, hypertension, obesity, hyperlipidemia
Provides individual nutrition and health counseling for those with overweight, diabetes, hypertension and dyslipidemia
Maintains documentation by charting SOAP notes in the progress notes
May develop and participation group nutrition education programs and medical group visits (i.e. diabetes, child obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension)
Collects and reviews material for education such as pamphlets, audio-visual aids, books and handouts. May assist in the development and evaluation of culturally relevant nutrition education materials
Assists in data entry and retrieval and other quality improvement efforts for the department
Promotes site based employee wellness efforts
May provide in-service nutrition/health education to staff and community partners
Participates in meetings related to nutrition, clinical health education and wellness as required/assigned
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Requires completion of Dietetic and Food Administration Program from an accredited university; RD or RD eligible, plus one year experience working in a community health care setting
Must hold a current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate. You will have 30-day grace period to obtain your certificate from the date of hire
Knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of nutrition, nutritional value of foods, interpretation and implementation of special diets, and meal planning and preparation that is culturally appropriate
Knowledge and experience with Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Division of Responsibilities
Interpretation of anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, and dietary information, and determination of appropriate dietary advice that is culturally appropriate
Knowledge of aspects of storing and/or preparing foods properly; interpretation and implementation of special diets; scopes functions and responsibilities of local health departments
Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition education activities and coordinate them with other departmental programs
Ability to work across cultures and demonstrate support of diversity, equity and inclusion
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Preferred
Masters in Nutrition/Dietetics preferred
