Responsibilities

Research, analyze and provide legal advice to business units on complex legal and compliance matters related to Company’s operations, product and strategic initiatives, particularly in the area of financial products and small business services
Provide legal counsel and guidance regarding complex transactions involving sophisticated counterparties and external service providers, including professional services agreements, licenses, and other strategic sourcing agreements
Assist with legal review and risk mitigation tactics regarding all aspects of client interactions, including consumer disclosures and agreements, identity verification and authentication, marketing, and customer service
Work closely with the VP - Legal (Financial Services, Small Business & Franchise), Deputy General Counsel and key business partners to provide high level legal support on a variety of initiatives
Monitor evolving laws that may impact the business and help design and implement compliant solutions
Serve as a department subject matter expert on matters related to banking and financial products, payments, lending, financial technology, and small business support, including bookkeeping and payroll
Contribute to team efforts by timely meeting commitments and working collaboratively with minimal supervision
Periodically assist with diverse high demand legal projects outside normal area of focus
Manage outside counsel to achieve timely and desired results within budget
Some domestic or international travel may be required

Required

Juris Doctorate degree plus license to practice law in one or more states
A current member of the Missouri Bar or an ability to become a member of the Missouri Bar within six months
At least five years of legal experience at a large law firm, corporate legal department, or similar
Detail-oriented focus, with demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate and persuade a wide range of audiences
Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and work initiatives at the same time
Strong business acumen and an eagerness to partner with internal business colleagues to solve business issues

Preferred

Significant experience providing legal advice on complex matters related to financial products and services in banking and/or fintech
Significant experience working on complex corporate transactions involving sophisticated counterparties and external service providers
Significant experience working with and providing legal advice to senior executives
Experience with AI powered tools and practices incorporated into daily work
