Senior Electrical Engineer
Bechtel Corporation is a global leader in engineering and construction, known for delivering complex projects across various sectors. They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to conduct field investigations, lead design and development of electrical systems, and support the USAF Sentinel program. The role involves mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with other disciplines, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
Responsibilities
Conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for project’s electrical engineering aspects
Lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes
Prepare designs for electrical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects
Support design development of electrical systems and equipment design for the Sentinel project by preparing engineering studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements
Work with and mentor junior electrical engineers as well as work with other technical disciplines in a team environment
Develop new design drawings using Autocad such as single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and more
Perform power system analysis modeling and calculations utilizing ETAP
Perform equipment sizing calculations such as medium voltage utility and low voltage transformers, panel boards, surge protective devices, uninterruptable power supplies, and battery sizing calculations
Develop equipment and material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact
Develop procurement documentation (written scopes of work) as well as perform supplier proposal evaluations
Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design
Coordinate systems requirement development and verifications with systems engineering and the client
Evaluate, select, and apply standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
Participate in the design, development, and modification of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines
Coordinate electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups
Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
Provide technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
Provide assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
Qualification
Required
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and 5-8 years of relevant work experience
Must be a United States citizen
Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Experience with Microsoft office programs, and other common computer programs
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards
Broad knowledge of the application of electrical engineering design principles
Strong knowledge of electrical systems for part of, or all of, the responsibilities listed above
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing, and cable sizing
Strong knowledge of power systems load modeling and analysis
Preferred
Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Electrical Engineering)
Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000
Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense
Experience executing engineering design with Smartplant 3D
Experience performing calculations with ETAP
Understanding of mechanical and process engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to electrical design requirements
Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact
Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide
Secret Clearance is preferred, but not required
