Responsibilities
Serve as Project Manager, Project Lead, or Task Lead on traffic engineering studies and design projects, including corridor studies, traffic impact analyses, safety analyses, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signing, pavement marking, ITS infrastructure, construction sequencing, and traffic control plans
Perform traffic operational and safety analysis using tools like Synchro/SimTraffic, VISTRO, and VISSIM for intersections, roundabouts, arterials, and freeway segments. Prepare traffic impact studies, signal warrant studies, intersection design studies, and safety studies
Develop traffic signal design plans, pavement marking plans, signing plans, traffic control plans, and ITS design plans
Exercise sound engineering judgment to perform complex traffic engineering tasks
Prepare clear, accurate technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Provide technical assistance and quality control oversight on traffic studies and design projects
Represent the firm at technical meetings with agency staff, clients, and contractors
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
10+ years of relevant experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, transportation safety, and/or ITS
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Arizona
Familiarity with MUTCD, ITE Trip Generation Handbook, and AASHTO Green Book
Proficiency in SYNCHRO, HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, CORSIM, or other traffic capacity/analysis software (GIS is a plus)
Membership in ITE or related professional organizations
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or other advanced design software
PTOE or Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification
Direct experience with DOT, county, municipal, or developer-driven transportation projects
Experience with Traffic Impact Studies, Safety Studies, Design Concept Reports, Corridor Studies, and Preliminary Traffic Reports
Knowledge of Complete Streets, bicycle and pedestrian improvement studies, and ITS infrastructure design
