Responsibilities
You'll expertly install, maintain, and repair fiber-optic networks
Work both independently and collaboratively to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance for residential clients
Technicians operate in the field, serving customer premises and working along fiber routes
You’ll expertly install fiber-optic cables, connectors, and related equipment at customer sites or network nodes
Use specialized equipment to rigorously test installed systems, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with industry standards
Identify signal degradation, cable cuts, or equipment failures in existing fiber networks. Swiftly address issues to maintain network reliability
Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure the continued optimal performance of the network
Document installations, repairs, and maintenance activities thoroughly
Keep network documentation and customer databases up to date
Interface with customers, explaining network issues and providing estimated repair or installation timelines
Train end-users on the basic use and maintenance of installed equipment
Follow safety regulations and industry standards meticulously to handle cables and network equipment safely
Always use appropriate PPE and follow procedures for working at heights or in confined spaces
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in installing and repairing fiber-optic networks
A strong understanding of network protocols, tools, and standards
Excellent capacity for independent work and effective problem-solving
Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and end-users
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred
Associate's degree, especially in telecommunications, information technology, or a related field
Consider certifications like the Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or others from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA)
