Controls Engineer (Advanced) (1 Hour East of Indianapolis)

Responsibilities
Creates concepts and designs related to the following types of industrial equipment:
• Synchronous automation
• Non-Synchronous automation
• Manual and lean equipment
• Hydraulic & manual workholding fixtures
• Heat exchanger core assembly equipment
• Crimping equipment & dies
• Molds & corrugation equipment
• Gages
• Multi-station systems
• Functional test equipment
• Standalone equipment
Application of knowledge of the following elements:
• Powered prime movers
• Conveyors & material handling
• Sensors & instruments
• Robotics & vision systems
Utilizes Engineering acumen in the following disciplines:
• Statistical quality methods
• AutoCAD Electrical
• Safety & ergonomics
• Manufacturing techniques
• Mechanical Engineering techniques
• Studies requirements and confers with project stakeholders to satisfy design-related challenges
• Works within cost and schedule parameters
• Modifies designs to improve performance
• Creates machine operational manuals
• Redlines & revises drawings
• Utilizes sequence of events and powered elements charts
• Engages in debug and development activities
• Works within ISO business quality system parameters
• Communicates with team members and managers to receive instructions and coordinate activities
• Utilizes ERP system (Epicor)
• Engages in continuous improvement activities
• Other duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
Creates concepts, designs, details, and machine-control programs for specialized automation equipment
Troubleshoots, installs, and provides service and support for equipment at customer's facility
Creates concepts and designs related to various types of industrial equipment including synchronous automation, non-synchronous automation, manual and lean equipment, hydraulic & manual workholding fixtures, heat exchanger core assembly equipment, crimping equipment & dies, molds & corrugation equipment, gages, multi-station systems, functional test equipment, and standalone equipment
Application of knowledge of powered prime movers, conveyors & material handling, sensors & instruments, robotics & vision systems
Utilizes Engineering acumen in statistical quality methods, AutoCAD Electrical, safety & ergonomics, manufacturing techniques, and mechanical engineering techniques
Studies requirements and confers with project stakeholders to satisfy design-related challenges
Works within cost and schedule parameters
Modifies designs to improve performance
Creates machine operational manuals
Redlines & revises drawings
Utilizes sequence of events and powered elements charts
Engages in debug and development activities
Works within ISO business quality system parameters

Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology
Ten years of experience in related field
Hands-on experience in Controls Engineering in a manufacturing environment
Vocational education in related field
