Vice President of Student Affairs

Coppin State University is seeking a Vice President of Student Affairs who will provide strategic leadership and oversight for student-focused programs and services. Responsibilities

Provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for a comprehensive portfolio of student-focused programs and services
Serves as a visible and engaged leader on campus, championing initiatives that enhance student leadership, engagement, and retention
Guides divisional planning, assessment, and policy development
Leads crisis response efforts and represents the Division of Student Affairs in key institutional initiatives and inclusive student programming
Oversees six direct reports across a range of student-focused services, including Housing and Residence Life, the Counseling Center, Student Health Services, Career Services, the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CSIL), the Office of Student Accountability and Community Standards, the Guerrieri Student Union, and TRIO Student Support Services
Responsible for all financial operations within the Division of Student Affairs, ensuring effective budget management, resource allocation, and fiscal accountability across all programs and services

Required

A master's degree in higher education, Student Affairs, or a related field
Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in Student Affairs or a closely related area, with three years in a senior leadership or cabinet-level role
Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budget management, personnel supervision, and assessment of student-centered programs and services
Proven experience navigating and responding to complex student issues, crises, and campus climate matters with sensitivity, clarity, and professionalism

Preferred

An earned doctorate in higher education, Student Affairs, or a related field
A deep understanding of trends, challenges, and opportunities in higher education and student development, particularly in public regional comprehensive universities
A strong record of cross-divisional collaboration and partnership across diverse institutional areas
Demonstrated ability to advocate for students and Student Affairs at the executive level and to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members
