Associate Metallurgist (2nd Shift)

They are seeking an Associate Metallurgist to support the metallurgical laboratory by performing material testing and analysis, preparing and analyzing metal samples, and contributing to continuous improvement in lab practices.

Responsibilities

Ensure all work is performed in compliance with ISO 17025 requirements and company quality procedures
Perform metallurgical analysis on metallic (ferrous and non-ferrous) components and generate test certificates and reports
Conduct material testing and analysis, including but not limited to:
Microstructural evaluation
Grain size determination
Macro examination
Microhardness testing
Phase determination
General metallurgical assessments
Review and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client and specification requirements
Communicate effectively with clients regarding metallurgical findings, recommendations, and technical issues
Supervise and guide laboratory technicians, ensuring work is executed according to the testing schedule and safety standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining laboratory accreditation and quality standards
Assist with other departmental activities as assigned to support the achievement of Element Technology’s annual goals and budget targets

Required

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field is required
Strong understanding of metallurgical processes, material properties, and failure mechanisms
Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required

Preferred

1+ years of relevant lab or industry experience preferred but not required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with lab data management systems is a plus
