Quality Assurance (QA) Technician

American Foods Group is preparing to open America's Heartland Packing in early 2025, a large-scale facility focused on meat processing. The QA Technician will be responsible for ensuring product safety, quality, and compliance through monitoring, auditing, and documenting processes on the production floor.

Responsibilities

Job requires rotation of tasks (animal welfare, sampling, quality inspections, chemical concentration checks, sanitary dressing audits, temperatures, box tare weights, sampling, and grade changes)
Monitor the implementation and compliance of all food safety and quality procedures on the floor, report deficiencies, take corrective action, and follow up
Review and accurately complete required paperwork (GMP checks, SSOP corrective action log, and SOP corrective action log) and be held accountable for accuracy
Conduct pre-op/condensation/swabs
Perform sanitary dressing and zero tolerance inspections in accordance with the written program
Aid production in ensuring proper product is retained for USDA dispositions
Perform finished product inspections to ensure conformance to specifications and collect samples to be sent to lab for analysis
Conduct animal welfare audits and immediately act on any deviations from robust humane handling program
Use production specification reports to gather, measure, analyze, and record inspection data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected or graded
Interact with USDA as needed
Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, investigate, and take corrective action, make recommendations on preventative measures, and document findings

Required

Must be 18 years of age or older
Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
High school diploma or GED
Must be able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, and write)

Preferred

Ability to effectively communicate in Spanish (speak, read, and write)
Strong project and time management, and conflict resolution skills
Prior production experience in a USDA inspected beef, pork, or poultry facility
Work history in the last 12 months
