The Wire EDM Machine Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating wire EDM machines to produce precision components while promoting a safe and positive work environment.

Responsibilities
Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements
Read and understand part drawings and basic GD&T
Set-up, run, and troubleshoot production parts
Monitor parts throughout production by visual observation and dimensional measurement to ensure parts meet the specifications
Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment
Work with other departments on projects, designs, and process improvements
Program, set-up, and operate wire EDM machines (primarily Fanuc controls)
Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths using CAM-I
Troubleshoot and make offset adjustments
Perform and document preventative maintenance on lower heads of machine, wire chopper, and clean seal plates
Set-up and run Hole Popper
Make custom parts for prototypes
Perform set-up, run and make required machine adjustments independently
Write and edit complex EDM programs without supervision
Work closely with Discovery and Engineering during Prototyping, Engineering Evaluation, V&V, and PQ/PV
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Completion of trade school preferred
0-2 years of machine operation experience for Level I
3-5 years' minimum experience programming wire EDM's for Level II
6+ years' minimum experience programming, setting-up, and operating wire EDM's for Level III
Basic shop math skills for Level I
Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria for Level I
Able to run variety of shop equipment for Level I
Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment for Level I
Basic understanding of GD&T for Level I
Ability to work independently and in a team environment for Level I
Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals for Level II
Strong understanding of GD&T for Level II
Capable of programming complex tool paths for Level II
Capable of programming, setting-up, and running EDM independently for Level III
Capable of writing and editing complex EDM programs without supervision for Level III
Strong problem-solving skills for Level III
Capable of coaching and mentoring for Level III
Preferred
Completion of trade school preferred for all levels
CAM-I program experience preferred for Level II
