Start in 2026 SummerHearst Newspapers is seeking a talented Visuals intern from UC Berkeley’s Journalism program for the summer of 2026. The intern will cover various news and features, responsible for making photographs, capturing video, editing images, writing captions, and collaborating with editors and reporters.

Responsibilities
Make informative and visually compelling images on deadline for daily stories
Transmit photos and videos remotely
Contribute accurate, concise, typo-free captions and additional reporting
Collaborate closely with editors and reporters in the field
Qualification
Required
A first-year graduate student at Berkeley with prior experience at a college news publication or professional news organization
A strong online portfolio featuring still photography and video
Keen attention to detail and strong news & ethical judgment, and an ability to work effectively under deadline pressure
An interest in and enthusiasm for local & community storytelling
