Driver-System Engineer 1

They are seeking a Driver-System Engineer I who will be responsible for the secure transportation and installation of IT systems across multiple client locations, ensuring compliance with security standards and delivering exceptional client experiences.

Responsibilities
Operate company-owned and rental trucks (up to CDL Class B or higher, depending on equipment) to transport IT assets and field service equipment between facilities and customer sites
Perform all pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT regulations; maintain accurate driving logs and vehicle condition reports
Load and secure equipment using proper lifting and load securement techniques to prevent damage or safety incidents
Manage route planning to ensure timely delivery and pickup schedules
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, report any mechanical issues, and coordinate service or maintenance as needed
Support on-site logistics, including equipment staging, inventory reconciliation, and document sign-off
Unload, install, configure, and validate IT hardware such as servers, storage devices, network switches, and data destruction appliances
Perform system diagnostics, firmware updates, and connectivity testing at client sites
Ensure all systems meet client specifications and internal security protocols before handover
Maintain real-time documentation of work performed, using internal inventory and ticketing systems
Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues
Conduct preventive maintenance and perform root-cause analysis for recurring technical problems
Ensure proper chain of custody and data security compliance when handling sensitive or end-of-life IT assets
Represent the company professionally at client sites, demonstrating strong communication and customer service skills
Collaborate with the Client Success, Service Delivery, and Logistics departments to align on project objectives and service deliverables
Communicate project status, issues, and resolutions clearly to management and clients
Support on-site teams during large-scale deployments, audits, or special projects as needed
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 3–5 years of combined experience in commercial driving, IT systems installation, or field service engineering
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL A or B) with a clean driving record
Current DOT Medical Certification required
Drivers must pass drug and alcohol tests
A thorough background check is required
Proficiency with hardware installation, diagnostics, and network configuration
Skilled in problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments
Strong understanding of physical and digital security requirements related to data-bearing devices
Frequent out of state travel (50–70% on average but could be up to 100%) to client and data center locations
Work performed in mixed environments including warehouse, office, and data center settings
Exposure to varying weather conditions during transport and delivery operations
Occasional work outside standard business hours to meet client deadlines
Must adhere to all company safety policies, security standards, and DOT regulations
May be required to participate in on-call rotations or emergency deployments
Preferred
Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field preferred
Experience with network infrastructure, system imaging, or data destruction processes preferred
CDL B (Preferred)
