Paramedic Program Coordinator

This role involves overseeing the Paramedic Training Program, ensuring its accreditation, and supporting the clinical and professional development of paramedic and EMT students.

Responsibilities
Oversees all aspects of the paramedic training program and provide education and training to providers of pre-hospital care and health care professionals in related fields
Develops and directs the paramedic program according to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Paramedic standards
Participates in all areas of EMS educational activities, department, system and regional meetings
Establishes and maintains a learning environment consistent with current knowledge of EMS care
Facilitates positive working relationship with community providers to promote the Loyola Emergency Medical Services System
Assists in special projects as deemed appropriate
Formulates course objectives and outline in accordance with the U.S. Department of Transportation's (2009) National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for Paramedic Instruction
Coordinates pre-course work and registration
Applies for site codes and provides participant information according to regulatory agencies including IDPH, CAAHEP, CoAEMSP, and JRC
Utilizes resources appropriate for promotion of adult learning, prepares course summary including evaluations
Prepares validates testing materials and administers or supervises administration of testing process
Collaborates with colleagues to develop continuing education process
Collaborates with colleagues to develop continuing education modules and assists with the delivery of EMS continuing education
Maintains files of test scores for class participant's as well as student files
Supports the educational focus of the Loyola EMSS in the community
Ensures appropriate assessment of students learning needs
Provides or oversees education of students
Ensures effectiveness of education through student/patient interactions
Engages/schedules student in clinical setting/rounds
Provides formal and informal educational opportunities in the department to improve clinical skills of all pre-hospital students
Identify and assure student competencies
Utilizes evidence- based practices, research findings, standards and all available resources
Works closely with the EMS Medical Director and EMS Manager/System Coordinator and all department personnel in all areas of EMS
Demonstrates flexibility, versatility and adaptability in terms of work and assignments
Uses effective oral, written and non- verbal communication skills at all levels of LUMC and pre-hospital EMS
Demonstrates role model and leadership characteristics that enhance and support team functions
Mentors and coaches students and staff
Maintains competency and participates in continuing education for self and development of colleagues and students
Participates in delivery professional programs/courses/in-services, internal and/or external and community events
Seeks opportunities to promote staff education certification and award programs
Maintains national certification, as applicable and membership in professional organization
Qualification
Required
Emergency Medical Technician (NR-EMT-P)
EMS Lead Instructor (IDPH)
Licensed EMT Paramedic State of Illinois
Bachelor's degree in Pre-hospital RN or Paramedic
3-5 years of previous job-related experience
Preferred
Master's degree
6-10 years of previous job-related experience
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
BLS/CPR
ACLS
AMLS
PHTLS Instructor Status
