Real Estate Controller
Archwell is a company that manages a real estate portfolio, and they are seeking a Controller to oversee all financial operations related to this portfolio. The role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and leading the real estate accounting team to maintain financial integrity across properties and development projects.

Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations for our expanding real estate portfolio, including acquired office and multi-family properties, and new development projects
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Collaborate with Finance to enhance current budgeting and forecasting processes; analyze variances and implement cost control measures
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other financial regulations
Work closely with property managers and senior leadership to provide financial insights that support operational efficiency and performance across real estate assets
Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies
Monitor cash flow, liquidity planning, cash forecasting, and maintenance of reserve accounts
Support property acquisitions, dispositions, and financing activities
Collaborate with asset managers, property managers, and development teams
Review legal documents for proper accounting treatment of joint ventures, loans, leases, and tax credit deals
Lead and mentor the accounting team; foster continuous improvement in processes
Comply with all company policies and procedures
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
Performs other related duties as assigned
This position has direct reports. Manages staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Qualification
Required
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Effective communication and attention to detail
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
10+ years in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in real estate
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
