Automation Controls Engineer

George E. Booth Co., Inc is a family-owned and operated industrial automation sales company seeking to hire a full-time Automation Controls Engineer. The successful candidate will develop and maintain automation systems, focusing on Rockwell automation programming, while collaborating with project teams and providing technical support to clients.

Responsibilities

Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems using Rockwell Automation software (Allen-Bradley) including RS Logix, Studio Logix and Connected Components Workbench
Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in accordance with company standards
Collaborate with project teams to develop control system architectures and specifications
Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
Assist in SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system design and configuration as needed including FactoryTalk, Ignition, and ICONICS platforms
Provide technical support to clients and resolve any issues related to automation systems
Participate in on-site commissioning, start-up, and training activities
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation and control systems
Perform troubleshooting of controls systems, network systems, SCADA systems, and other site specific problems
Willingness to train less experienced engineers

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or 4+ years industry experience
Solid understanding of PLC programming concepts and experience with Rockwell Automation software (RSLogix, Studio 5000, CCW)
Familiarity with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) procedures
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems
Possess familiarity and ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to travel to client sites as needed (up to 60% travel locally with occasional overnight stays)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

Preferred

Some experience in SCADA and HMI design and configuration is preferred
